1.
AMATEUR TO PROFESSIONAL: VLOGGING AND VIDEOMAKING

Get into this session to unleash the vlogger and filmmaker inside you! In this practical session, you will learn the technical and storytelling aspects of vlogging, a very popular form of media. You'll get hands on experience with documentary and music video planning, shooting, and editing. You will learn about the
art
of visual storytelling. You will learn to use the lens to capture the stories of REM through interviews and connect these stories to a wider Yukon audience through publication in the Shakat Journal. If you are interested in the lucrative careers to be found in the film industry, this session will give you a realistic experience – one that most people don’t have until much later in life. This session will be led by experienced filmmakers and industry professionals. Equipment will be provided, but bring your own too if you have it.

CHERY

Learn archery! This session is open to all levels, including beginners. You will learn target shooting, 3D animal shooting, and the various competition formats of archery. You will also learn coaching skills and this will be an opportunity for you to obtain your Level 1 NCCP coaching certification, which would allow you to coach archery back in your home community, as a student job! Equipment supplied, but bring your own if you have it.
3. BAKERY ESSESNTIALS: BREAD MAKING AND DELECTABLE DESSERTS

In this fully hands-on session, you will discover the world of bread making as well as classic French desserts. Learn the essentials of working with yeast and making your own bread products, including baguettes, croissants, pizza, focaccia, pretzels, cinnamon buns, etc. In the dessert component of this session, you will make a variety of dessert items, including cream puffs, éclairs, tarts, chocolate mousse, crème brulée, and crepes, as well as learn the basics of cake decorating. In addition to practicing various techniques, you will learn plating and presentation tips to give your creations that extra
je ne sais quoi.
You will have plenty of treats to share with your friends and will also take home a recipe booklet. This session will NOT be part of the REM catering.
4. DANCE AND DRAMA

If you love to move, dance and act, then this session is for you. Dance is an expression of self through movement. You will explore different dance elements such as rhythm, technique, body awareness, strength and balance. Drama will stimulate your imagination and introduce you to story theatre, improvisation, acting, and stagecraft. Each day will begin with warm-up exercises for both dance and drama, progress into choreographed movement, then to creating and rehearsing a showpiece for the Friday Finale. This session will definitely tap into your creativity and expression as a performer, and give you the opportunity to work with like-minded students!
5. HAIR AND AESTHETICS

Have you ever thought about becoming a hair stylist or esthetician? Are you the one friends call in a hair/beauty emergency? Yes? Then this session is for you! This session will be a very hands-on and highly engaging experience to learn the practical skills of hair styling. An industry expert and master teacher will help you to gain hands-on salon experience while practicing first on mannequins, and then on each other. You will learn how to braid, style, groom, trim, cut, and colour hair. A guest esthetician will join the session for an afternoon to help you learn the basics of manicures/pedicures.
6. LIFE AS AN ATHLETE:
GAMES ON, 2020!:
Sport Yukon, Sport and Rec Branch, Yukon Aboriginal Sports Circle, and Guest Sport Coaches
If you enjoy sports and want to learn more about sport, including physical literacy, sport nutrition, injury prevention, mental preparation, strength and conditioning principles, balance training, and much more, then this is the session for you! Experience several sports* and establish contact with mentors who can work with you to help you to develop in your sport(s) from your home community. Any athletes wanting to participate in the 2020 Arctic Winter Games (Whitehorse) and/or the 2020 North American Indigenous Games (Halifax) will be given an opportunity to learn more about these games and how you can get involved. Sport-specific* coaches, including from the Yukon Aboriginal Sports Circle, will be presenting to you the sports available at the Games, the tools to develop in sport, and the roadmap involved to get you to the Games.

7. PART OF THE LAND, PART OF THE WATER
Margaret Chiblow, Champagne and Aishihik First Nations Elders
This session will explore the impressive natural landscape that is the Traditional Territory of the Champagne and Aishihik First Nations (CAFNs). You will learn about a rich culture based on strong ties with the land while you engage with that land by walking, hiking, big canoeing, and rafting! En route you will learn about: Southern Tutchone language, heritage and cultural activities; storytelling; harvesting berries and jam-making; moosehide tanning; dried moose preparation; harvesting plants and making traditional medicines; and the importance of stewardship of the land. You will get a chance to visit Klukshu Village, the CAFNs salmon fishing community to learn about the local salmon population. You will also explore the Dezadeash River by raft! You will be joined by Elders and citizens from CAFNs who will share their traditional knowledge with you!
8.
TRAPPING

This session will focus on active learning about trapping in Yukon. You will visit with trapping professionals and learn about live trapping for research, trapping for the fur market, skinning and fur handling, methods of trapping, and building and preparing legal snares for a variety of fur bearers. You will visit a local trap line to learn the basics of reading tracks and identifying fur bearers habitat, and get hands-on practice with trap setting and set building. You will hear from Champagne and Aishihik First Nations Elders about traditional trade routes and the history of trapping in Yukon, and learn about co-management of trap lines, trapping rules and trapping regulations. You will raft the Dezadeash River and spend an overnight at a basecamp at Annie Ned Creek - a great place for timber sports (hatchet throwing, log sawing, fire-making) as well as songs and stories around a campfire. This session is limited to seven students, due to the nature of the outings.
9. WELDING CAMP

Are you interested in learning about the welding trade? Considering welding as a career? This Welding Camp will provide you an introduction to the welding profession and the great career options that are available, while being supervised by welding professionals in a safe environment. Welding safety, Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), introduction to weld symbols, and a brief overview of the impact welding has on our daily lives will be part of the camp. You will practice on the welding simulator and then have fun with real arcs and sparks while you create your own projects. Maximum of eight participants, due to welding bay limitations.
